In 1869, Philipp Geelhaar founded a fabric and tailoring business in the city of Bern. Through expert knowledge, meticulous craftsmanship and entrepreneurial foresight, the company evolved over generations into a respected and well-established specialist for Oriental rugs. To this day, Geelhaar stands for quality, trust and genuine Bernese craftsmanship. The company remained family-owned until the year 2000.

Since 2014, Geelhaar AG has been owned and managed by Vincent Sunier. With deep respect for the long history of the company and a clear focus on the future, he continues to lead the business with great dedication. Together with his team, he preserves traditional craftsmanship while continuously expanding the company’s services — particularly in the areas of rug cleaning, care and restoration, as well as the sale and professional installation of all types of flooring.
